Born October 6, 1979, Annie O’Laurie Fowler is a native New Orleanian, and a new resident of Atlanta, Georgia. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from Louisiana State University. Detailed studies of human physiology and psychology have supplied Fowler with an in-depth understanding of the many ways visual art has the power to evoke feelings and emotions.
“My goal is to create pieces that provide visual enhancement and inspire delight and satisfaction from the viewer. Visual images encountered daily elicit varying responses from people, conscious or not. My wish is for each owner to experience feelings of pleasure, comfort and pride upon entering a space adorned with my work”, says Fowler.
Focusing on layered colors and textures, Annie’s artwork is typically abstract and painted primarily on canvas and wood panels, but she also includes mediums outside of this norm.
“I enjoy finding different elements that most people wouldn’t think to paint upon”, she says. “It’s an exciting part of the creative process for me. I'm not afraid to do things differently. Frankly, I like pieces to stand out so that people take notice.”
Her paintings can be found in homes and businesses across the country-- from the Garden District of New Orleans to Washington D.C. to country homes in North Carolina.
“When I create my art, I place strong emphasis on designing pieces that are versatile in style. Regardless of the ever-changing trends in home décor, I want to assure that in 10 years, 20 years, the piece will continue to charm the owner and enhance the setting. My work isn’t limited in terms of placement and can be hung anywhere--a home filled with antiques, a modern loft space, a lawyer’s office, or a hotel."
